10 days left in New York City for the summer…where has the summer gone? I’m going to miss it so much but I can’t wait to get back and be with my friends for my last semester!!!

Well it sure has been awhile since I last posted. I have been so busy with my internship and living it up in NYC I haven’t had time to just sit and write. For the past few weeks I have been working hard with the team at the RJM group to get ready for market. On Thursday we are having a Private sale and next week we are having a sample sale. This week at the private sale, we will be having champagne and mini cupcakes from this place called Baked by Melissa! I’m so excited to work this event! As I’m sitting here writing this, I’m thinking about how my time here is almost over. I can’t believe I only have 2 weeks left. I’m sad to leave but excited to get back in Kentucky to finish my last semester of college. While I have been at my internship I have learned so much. I have learned not only about the company and fashion industry but also about myself and how I work in the environment. Sometimes it can be stressful but at the end of the day I am so glad I am here and having the best experience I can ever ask for. I guess I can’t be to sad since it looks like I might be back at the beginning of 2013!!!

Besides my internship going well, the life in the city is awesome! Above are some pictures I took while walking around in the evenings. Sometimes it is just nice to enjoy a nice stroll in an area that I’m not familiar with to see what it has to offer. I never expected to be able to get around so quickly here. Each day I am finding new things to do. Some of my favorite places I like to go are running by the Hudson River, walking around the Meat Packing District, 5th Avenue and Central Park. All of these places are so interesting and each of these places are completely different! Also while I have been here I have seen some of the best Broadway shows! I have seen Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, and Hard Work If You Can Get It. I recommend all of these shows for future visits for anyone!

So many exciting things have happened for me this summer. Turning 21 was one of the first and probably the best feeling ever! I love being able to go out at night and not have to worry about anything. I question myself every morning after a night out “How did we get into a place like that?” Some of the places I have gone to are just amazing. Rooftop bars are the best and you can literally see the whole city! The only thing I dislike is spending $50 on drinks…oops. Another exciting thing that has happend to me this summer is realizing I get to move back up here in January! I am beyond excited and have already started looking for places to live!!! The last exciting thing is the people I have met and became close to. I am sad some of them are already leaving soon but this summer would not have been the same without them.

Until next time..

Well it sure has been a busy but fun past few days! I have finally experienced nightlife in the city and I continue to love my internship everyday. I am starting to become close to the girls who work there which makes it a lot of fun! At my internship we have had many appointments with buyers from Neiman Marcus Online, Spoil Me Fashion (an online jewelry website), and Saks. There has also been jewelry designers that have came and shown their collections. It is really interesting to see what all the buyers have to consider when deciding if the product would sale in the store. They have to consider if the customer would buy it and if it is at the right price points. Another interesting visit we had was from a school in Orange County, CA. It was really interesting to sit in and listen to the CEO talk about the company. I learned so much more than I already knew and it was a great opportunity being able to answer some of the students questions they had for me! I cannot explain how blessed I am to have this opportunity…I definitely don’t want the summer to come to an end!

I have finally been able to experience the nightlife here in the city, both during the week and on the weekends. I now know why the city is known as “the city that never sleeps”. You can literally go out anytime of the night and not come home til early morning without realizing. You also never know who you will meet either.

One evening during the week, I went walking around with one of my friends. You can literally plan to do one thing but end up doing so much more. We went and got Pinkberry and walked around Central Park because she had not been there. After walking around the park we walked down 5th Ave and I spotted a Lindt Chocolate store…trouble written all over it…purchased 5 chocolate bars. Next we were near Rockefeller Plaza and saw all of these kids lined up down the street to see Justin Beiber perform at the Today show…talk about Beiber Fever. On our way home, we saw “professional street performers” put on a show. Somehow we both got pulled into their act. It was so much fun and I had never been so scared of people flipping over me in my life! This is one of the things I love about being here. You never know what can happen and it always keeps you on your feet for new surprising things!

I wish I could tell you everything but to sum it all up, this is my new home away from home, the runs to and around central park, random nights, people you meet, the view at night from the rooftop, and just everything about the city is AMAZING.

Until next time, everyone have a good week!
